Do you see a difference in the output quality between the two? I assume you are using the "editable text and images" option (otherwise Acrobat should not modify the content of your page). There are two or three different output modes you can use with OCR (how many depends on how you start the OCR process): You should have searchable image (potentially with the "exact" option) and editable text and images.
Depending on the version of Adobe Acrobat Pro DC being used, the flattening of PDFs may be done through the File menu, or the Tools menu. Once there, launch the Adobe Acrobat Pro DC application. I am just making assumptions about it's internal behavior based on what I've seen. In order to flatten a PDF in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, open the Start Menu and access the All Programs folder. Only Adobe would be in a position to give a definitive answer. Without knowing how exactly Acrobat determines the skew angle, it's impossible to say what exactly is causing this problem. If all text is going "up hill", then it's pretty obvious that you have a skew and Acrobat can then determine the angle and correct for that.
The best way to do that is by looking how text behaves in your document. That's another story…especially on anything with columns/tables.Acrobat needs something to figure out by how much a page is skewed. OCR - indeed I've found it less than intuitive in Acrobat, to say the least. Would appreciate any tips on how to edit the fixup settings to avoid that.įile needs to end up as a pdf again, normally I'd export from InDesign - or is that too much refrying - ? However the line colours have shifted a bit, presumably because this method exports to CMYK and the markups were probably done in RGB? Lines are now a bit too pale. It seems to make the markups visible to InDesign… You do get a reassuring green tick when it's done! I used this "as is" without editing the settings. Advanced menu > Preflight…> PDF fixups… > Flatten annotations and form fields The method I've tried (after duplicating the files into a folder called "flattened pdfs") is: I tried the UVSAR Flattener Script it worked fine on the first file, then on the second one I got an error message and the map background disappeared! When placed in Indesign as pdfs, they are not visible and Acrobat 9 Pro will not allow "print to pdf" with markups. I've been having a similar problem with some pdf maps which have route lines added to them as markups.
